The regular contributors to Equestrian Ink belong to a loop so we can communicate with each other. In the past few days, we've been organizing our new year, dicussing ideas, and working on a new schedule so we don't go more than a few days without a post.
As a result, I'd like to ask our readers to participate in our direction for 2011. Please take a moment to comment and offer your suggestions to make this blog better.
- Are there particular topics you'd like to see covered or covered in more detail? Such as:
- More or less about writing equestrian fiction, how to get published, what publishers publish equestrian fiction.
- More riding-related topics.
- More horse-care related topics.
- More personal accounts of our horses or our horse experiences.
- Do you have any ideas for guest bloggers? If you'd like to guest blog, contact one of our members, and they'll help you out.
- Do you have any suggestions for items to be added to our sidebar? Such as:
- Links to other blogs.
- Useful links to websites.
- Links to interesting horse videos.
- Anything other suggestions you might have.
I would say "write about what your heart is full of"....
ReplyDeleteSomething that occupies you.
Personally, I prefer the horse related posts - but the blog content is entirely up to you.
That is what is nice about blogs. No need to meet any numbers!
Stories, more stories, horse-related or not.
ReplyDeleteHorse Of Course--I agree with you. I like posts that are about the personal experiences/feelings of the author. So, Jami, if I am allowed to vote as a reader, since I do read all the posts as well writing my own, I prefer posts that discuss the author's own unique experiences/feelings/ideas, and I, too, prefer the horse related posts. However, I can relate to the writing posts, since I'm in the same boat, trying to find the motivation to persist steadily on book number twelve in my series, which must be turned in in March.
ReplyDeleteKate--I have to ask, what do you mean by stories? I often have the same thought and wonder if my post is a "story" or not. For instance my last post, "Pitfalls". Is that a story? And if so, what makes it that? Or is it merely a discussion about the perils of new horse ownership? If anyone wants to respond to this and let me/us know what makes a "story" post, please do.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to hear more about your guys's personal relationships or encounters with horses.. Not just the good, but the bad and sad, too. I love stories, just like Kate. Also - I am interested in guest blogging.
ReplyDeleteLaura - how can I get into guest blogging? Thanks!
Gabriella Elise--We'd love to post a guest blog from you, or any of our readers. Unfortunately, I am the least adept at using the computer of the lot of us. We have been discussing who can/will post guest blogs, so let me throw it out to the group. When I find out who you should send it to, I will post that info here in the comments.

ReplyDeleteI've always appreciated the wide variety of topics and the variety of writers.
ReplyDeleteThe writing/publishing posts are always helpful. The personal experience pieces about horses and the horse life have always been interesting as well.
Even though I'm not into dressage or team penning, for example, I can appreciate those personal experience pieces.
Wonderful EI is full steam ahead!
Thank you, Laura!!
ReplyDeleteGabriella Elise--Could you send your guest post to Jami? I believe its jamidavenport@att.net Jami, could you correct me if I'm wrong about which address to use.
ReplyDeleteLaura - Thank you so much! I'll have the post sent to Jami as soon as possible, but my email's been acting up lately. Any specific topic you'd like me to write about?
ReplyDeleteI like both the writing and horse related posts. I'd like to see more guest posts from other horsey authors if you're interested in adding that to your menu. As a teen I used to haunt the bookstore buying anything that had a horse on the cover. I'm a little more discriminatory now, but I'm still always interested in what horsey books are out there. Might also be cool to hear what some of the big names in horsey fiction at various times are doing now. Like what's Joanna Campbell writing, Bonnie Bryant, Steven Farley (Walter Farley's son, right?), Jody Jaffe, etc.
ReplyDeleteI like the personal touch of the blog... the author's personal experiences, trainings, trials and daily life instances tainted by and filled with horses... items of interest (books, sites, etc) you enjoy about horses... those are the things that I enjoy the most.
