Horses as Children

My horses are basically my four-legged children. I spend 6 days a week with them along with the majority of my paycheck. People often think I'm crazy for doing this. When bills get tight or paying the mortgage comes into question, I'm asked why don't I sell one horse. I reply with, "Would you sell one of your kids?" In my eyes they are two in the same. My horses are now a permanent part of my family and selling them isn't an option now or ever. I make daily sacrifices, my back might be on fire but you can be assured my horses can have their regular chiropractic sessions. But I'm happy to make these sacrifices because my horses bring me more joy than anyone can imagine. They comfort me when I'm sad, never say the wrong thing, and make me feel loved always. How are horse viewed in your family? Do you have fuzzy children?

Also a reminder that all my books (except the Wine Lover's Mystery Series) will be available on Kindle for 0.99 cents for a limited time.

Growing up, I always had a horse, from a Shetland (mean little Sh*#), to a Welsh pony to several QH's. Riding, grooming, feeding, etc. was my refuge a lot of times. They were the only "people" who would listen and not judge, so I know where you are coming from. I don't have a horse now, but I've got two great listeners in my dogs.

Hey, I'm weirder than you. I consider all my animals, from the horses and cattle to the chickens part of our family.

Great that your books are on Kindle. Mine have been selling well electronically.

I currently have 4 fuzzy buddies - 2 horses, a dog and a cat. They are loving, funny, smart, comforting, frustrating, annoying... in other words, they're just like children. My mare is sweet and cuddly and would rather follow me around the roundpen than go run out her energy. Unfortunately, when I ride her, she's inexplicably spooky. Her son, the gelding, is goofy, nosy, and ADD. But he's solid to ride and a wonderful showhorse.

I've already got some of your titles. I'll have to pick up a few more. I can't resist a sale!
