Equestrian Ink Great Summer Giveaway - THE HORSE JAR

The Equestrian Ink Great Summer Giveaway Continues!
Because we appreciate our readers so much - and because we think Summer is a great time for Reading - we are giving away one of our books each week! This week you can win THE HORSE JAR, by Linda Benson. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this blog post. You have until Friday night, July 15th, 2011 when a random winner will be picked.

THE HORSE JAR is a children's novel, but many horse and animal minded adults have enjoyed it, too. It's published by Mondo Publishing, which sells directly to schools, so you won't find it in bookstores. But here's your chance to own your own copy! It's a horse story, a dog story, and a story about a girl who goes after her dreams . . . oh never mind - here's the blurb:

Annie Mitchell has worked so hard to save her money for the one thing she has been dreaming about for years - her very own horse. What Annie didn't count on was how much hard work it would be convincing her parents that she can take care of one. But she does what she can to prove it to them, and just when things seem to be going her way - Annie is faced with the most difficult decision of her life! Will Annie's choice sacrifice everything she's worked so hard to get? Will she lose the best friend she has ever had? She never knows what to expect - and neither will you!

my grand daughter loves horses and books so this would be a good fit for her.

It sounds like a wonderful story, one that I am sure I would enjoy even though I am a "grown-up". A horse crazy one at that! As a little girl, I read all of the C.W. Andersons' "Blaze" series, over and over and over. The illustrations were mezmerizing to me.

this book would be the perfect birthday gift for my everything horses daughter who also has a pooch that has pretty much been inseparable from her since the day he was dumped off 7 years ago:)

Mary - I loved the Blaze series also, and whenever I find them at garage sales I always try to pick them up. I adore C.W. Anderson's artwork! Horses and Turbos - THE HORSE JAR was published in 2009. For all of those entering - it's about 80 pages long, with a few illustrations sprinkled throughout. Keep the comments coming - and I'll draw the winner on Friday night!

I'd love to read it and pass it on to my recipient of horsey things... the therapeutic riding center.
It sounds like a great story. I've begun by 'barn jar' - it is an imaginary jar but every time we come in under budget on one phase of the project house or another.. the extra goes into my barn jar!!

Had to laugh when I read the description - it sounds like a lovely story, and as I had my very own horse jar when I was a kid, it also sounds like a perfect book to pass on to my niece.

Sounds like a great book. Would love to read and pass on to my junior horsey friends. Isn't that a wonderful thing that horsey friends can cross the ages - when horses are involved you can be fifty and be friends with a fifteen year old and have common ground!

Thanks for your comments, everyone, and hope you win! I had a Horse Jar too, growing up, and it's how I bought my very first horse. The old adage "write what you know" played out in this novel, as I (like a lot of you) was the horse crazy girl who saved every dime to get my own horse. And after saving every penny, I finally did - when I was fifteen.

I'm a bibliophile, and have found some great reads meant for children (lots, actually ;o)

Just a thought? When we do giveaways, I use random.org You type in the names and hit "randomize". You'll have your winner in the #1 spot and you can save a jpeg of the list on the off chance anyone questions your selection methods. Picky and paranoid to be sure, but people get in a tizzy about the darnedest things sometimes...

Thanks, Jen. I've usually used the name in the hat method, but if you get lots of entrants - this entails lots of slips of paper. I can definitely see the benefits of Random.org. and I found their site. Thanks for mentioning it!
